Heart Series of the Week Recap: Benedictine vs. Baker

This week's Heart Series of the Week featured a four-game baseball rivalry matchup between Benedictine and Baker at Sauder Field in Baldwin City, Kan., as the Wildcats took three of four games in a key early conference showdown.
Baker entered the weekend riding a four-game winning streak, while Benedictine came in with momentum of its own after securing its first conference sweep since the 2022–23 season. With both teams off to strong starts, the series played an important role in setting the tone for conference play.
Saturday's doubleheader saw Baker control both contests, beginning with a 3-0 shutout victory in game one. The Wildcats outhit Benedictine 7-5 while holding the Ravens scoreless behind a strong outing on the mound. Baker followed with a 6-1 win in game two, capitalizing on efficient offense and taking advantage of a Benedictine error to complete the sweep on day one.
On Sunday, Baker continued its momentum with a narrow 2-1 victory in the opening game, limiting Benedictine to just two hits while collecting six of their own. The Ravens responded in the final game of the weekend, bouncing back with a 5-0 shutout win. Benedictine's offense came alive with 12 hits in the finale, while their pitching staff held Baker to just one hit to prevent the sweep.
Across the four-game set, Baker's pitching staff played a pivotal role, with wins from Camden Karlin, Tyler Vigna, and Kole Starlin helping power the Wildcats to the series victory. Benedictine's Ryan McDougal highlighted the Ravens' efforts with a dominant shutout performance in the finale.
