Wick, Redmon, Fontenot Named AFCA All-Americans
The AFCA All-America Team consisted of 11 players on both the offensive and defensive squad to go along with three special teams honorees. The AFCA NAIA All-America Selection Committee consisted of a panel of 27 coaches, three coming from each of the nine AFCA districts.
Wick was one of four players on the 25-man list to be earn a 2nd-straight all-America honor. Wick ranked #12 in the NAIA with 17.5 tackles for loss and #23 with 6.5 sacks among his 39 total tackles and finished his career with 100 tackles that included 20 sacks. A native of Brawley, Calif, Wick helped the Vikings claim the Heart of America Athletic Conference's automatic berth into the NAIA Football Championship Series thanks to a share of the regular season conference championship, the first for the program since 2006.
Redmon completed an outstanding career with the Pioneers by hauling in team-leading totals of 51 receptions for 694 yards and 8 touchdowns, sharing the conference lead in receptions while finishing third in receiving yards. The St. Louis, Missouri native finished his collegiate career with 171 catches for 2,312 yards and 28 touchdowns and was a 4-time 1st-team all-HAAC selection.
Fontenot helped anchor a Benedictine offensive line that allowed just 12 sacks on the season and averaged 196.6 yards per game on the ground. A native of Kenner, Louisiana, Fontenot made the impressive leap from an honorable mention all-conference selection in 2010 to earning unanimous 1st-team recognition and the highest individual honor of 1st-team all-America.
