JD Woods, Nathan Hamilton Repeat as Heart Players of the Week
No. 7 ranked Baker University running back JD Woods earned his second-straight Heart Offensive Player of the Week, while No. 5 nationally ranked Grand View University’s kicker Nathan Hamilton repeated as Heart Special Teams Player of the Week, and Central Methodist’s Mar’Quess Daniels earned his first Heart Defensive Player of the Week honor of 2021, announced by the conference office on Monday.
No. 7 ranked Baker University running back JD Woods earned his second-straight Heart Offensive Player of the Week, while No. 5 nationally ranked Grand View University's kicker Nathan Hamilton repeated as Heart Special Teams Player of the Week, and Central Methodist's Mar'Quess Daniels earned his first Heart Defensive Player of the Week honor of 2021, announced by the conference office on Monday.
Woods continues to make history for the Wildcats, as he broke the NAIA's all-time rushing touchdowns record in Baker's first drive of the game last Saturday in their win over William Penn, 47-21.
He would eventually run for four touchdowns on the day, bringing his career rushing touchdown tally to 79, a new NAIA record. On the day, he ran for 110 yards on 14 carries.
This week, Hamilton helped lead the Vikings to a 41-20 road win at No. 17 Benedictine. As he nailed two field goals and went a perfect 5-for-5 on his PAT's. He made a 41-yard field goal in the win, his longest of the day.
Daniels, a senior linebacker from Trumbull, Connecticut had eight tackles including two sacks in CMU's, 27-24, win over Peru State on Saturday.
He also recorded a 57-yard pick six to seal the victory late in the fourth quarter.
