Heart Football Players of the Week, Presented by Musco Lighting – Week 1
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Heart of America Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the Heart of America Football Players of the Week, presented by Musco Lighting.
Offensive Player of the Week
Jacob Jones of Missouri Baptist is the Heart's first Football Offensive Player of the Week winner this season. Jones, a quarterback for the Spartans led the Spartans to a season-opening 38-35 victory over St. Ambrose on Saturday night with 335 yards of total offense and three touchdowns. He completed 26 of 43 passes for 275 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 60 yards and two scores.
Defensive Player of the Week
Ja-Quez Oliver of Peru State is this week's first Heart of America Defensive Player of the Week. Oliver tallied four tackles on Saturday, but his game was highlighted by a 51-yard interception return for a touchdown to seal a 31-17 win over No. 16 Baker.
Special Teams Player of the Week
The Heart's first Special Teams Player of the Week is Luke Hardman of MidAmerica Nazarene. Hardman nailed four field goals and five PAT's on Saturday in the 47-28 win over Culver-Stockton. He also recorded six touchbacks on kickoffs and landed his only punt of the game inside the Culver-Stockton 20-yard line.
