Heart Announces 2025 North Football All-Conference Selections
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Heart of America Athletic Conference is proud to announce the 2025 Heart Football North Division All-Conference teams and postseason award winners.
The Heart North head coaches selected the following postseason awards and 1st, 2nd and Honorable Mention All-Conference teams.
2025 Heart North Player of the Year – Jackson Waring – Grand View University
For the third-straight year Waring has been selected the Heart North Player of the Year. Waring completed 182 passes on the season for 2,514 yards and 25 touchdowns, while also rushing for 744 yards and 13 touchdowns to lead the Vikings to a Heart of America North Division Championship.
2025 Heart North Offensive Player of the Year – Destynd Loring – William Penn University
Loring played in all 11 games this season. He had 258 carries on the year for 1,574 yards. With just over 143 rushing yards per game, he tallied 25 touchdowns on the ground. He also had 21 catches for 208 yards and one touchdown.
2025 Heart North Defensive Player of the Year – John Argo – Grand View University
For the second straight year, Argo was named the Heart North Defensive Player of the Year. Argo tallied a total of 92 tackles on the season with 9.5 tackles for loss. He also had two interceptions and seven pass breakups to lead the Viking defense which allowed just 8.36 points per game.
2025 Heart North Freshman of the Year – Nate Ortega – Peru State College
Ortega played in 11 games this season, collecting a total of 47 tackles with 3.5 tackles of loss. He also had a team-high six interceptions on the season to help the Bobcats hold their opponents to just 28.5 points per game.
2025 Heart North Coach of the Year – Marc Benavidez – William Penn University
After posting a record of 10-1, coach Benavidez and the Statesmen have tied the program record for wins in a season, set in 1972, 1975, and 2010. The Statesmen averaged 40.1 points per game while allowing just 19.8 points per game. The Statesmen will now host their first NAIA Football Playoff game in school history.
2025 Heart North Offensive Assistant of the Year – Grant Garth – William Penn University
Coach Garth and the William Penn offense averaged 437.5 yards per game this season. 183.4 on the ground and 254.1 through the air. The Statesmen scored just over 40 points per game and have tied the program record for 10 wins in a season.
2025 Heart North Defensive Assistant of the Year – Tyler Martin – Grand View University
Coach Martin and the Grand View Vikings finished off a perfect 10-0 regular season, going 7-0 in Heart North play. The Viking defense allowed just 8.36 points per game and allowed just 219.9 yards per game.
