2022 Heart Men’s Basketball Conference Tournament Championship
The 2022 Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Conference Tournament field is set with eight teams from across the conference.
The 2022 Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Conference Tournament bracket is complete, as North No. 1 William Penn captured its third-straight Heart Conference Tournament Championship with a 99-91 win over South No. 1 Evangel for the Heart Championship.
The Tournament began with the Quarterfinals on Wednesday, February 23, then four teams moved onto the Semifinals on Friday, February 25 and concluded on Monday, February 28 with the Championship game, at the Penn Gymnasium in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
The No. 1 nationally ranked William Penn Statesmen captured the 2022 Heart regular season crown after an impressive 27-1 regular season and 18-1 Heart record.
William Penn has won six of the last seven regular season Heart championships and won the Heart Conference Tournament last season, 92-76, over Benedictine, for the Statesmen's second-straight Conference Tournament championship.

Heart Quarterfinals | February 23:
South No. 4 MidAmerica Nazarene at North No. 1 William Penn – 7 pm - William Penn wins, 101-97, Overtime.
It took overtime back on February 5 in Olathe, Kansas to decide a winner between MNU and William Penn in their last matchup. But the Statesmen prevailed, 90-87. MNU enters the postseason, 15-14 overall and 10-9 in Heart conference action.
North No. 3 Peru State at South No. 2 Central Methodist – 7 pm - CMU wins, 70-64.
The Eagles and Bobcats also met in Fayette, Mo. on January 29 with CMU taking home the victory, 75-68. CMU is 21-9 overall this season and 12-7 in the Heart, while Peru State enters the Heart Tournament, 16-14 overall and 10-9 in conference action.
South No. 3 Benedictine at North No. 2 Grand View – 6 pm - Benedictine wins, 95-88, Overtime.
Grand View hosted Benedictine in their last match up on January 16, and the Ravens earned the road win, 61-56. The Vikings are 17-9 overall this season and 12-7 in the Heart, while BC is 17-11 overall and 11-8 in the conference.
North No. 4 Mount Mercy at South No. 1 Evangel – 6 pm - Evangel wins, 71-63.
Evangel and Mount Mercy also met in Springfield, Mo., back on January 22, with the Valor earning the home win, 69-58. The Valor enter the postseason, 20-8 overall and 13-6 in conference play, while the Mustangs are 16-13 overall and 9-10 in the Heart.
Heart Semifinals | February 25:
South No. 2 Central Methodist at North No. 1 William Penn - 7:30 pm - William Penn Wins, 92-81
Central Methodist handed William Penn their only loss in the Heart regular season this season, a 79-73, home win over the Statesmen. In the win 2022 Heart First Team All-Conference selection Jonathan Brown scored 35 points for the Eagles. CMU attempted 85 field goal attempts, including 32, three-point attempts. 2022 Heart Player of the Year Kevion Blaylock scored a team-high 19 points and Heart First Team selection Karmari Newman scored 18.
South No. 3 Benedictine at South No. 1 Evangel - 6 pm - Evangel wins 78-74
The Ravens and Valor have met twice this season, both wins for Evangel. On December 7 in Springfield, Mo., Evangel won 78-67. Then on January 26 in Atchison, Kan., the Valor hung on for a 58-53 win.
Heart Championship | Feb. 28
South No. 1 Evangel at North No. 1 William Penn | 7 pm | at William Penn - William Penn Wins 99-91
The Statesmen captured their third-straight Heart Conference Tournament Championship on Monday night and were led by two-time Heart Conference Player of the Year, Kevion Blaylock, who scored 20 points and finished with a double-double with 11 rebounds. The Statesmen had six players score in double-figures and shot 40-percent from three-point range on 10-of-25.
Edriel Martinborough scored 22 points for the Valor and 2022 Heart First-Team All-Conference selection Cade Coffman finished with 15 points.
William Penn has now won three Heart Conference Tournament Championships as a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (2022, 2021, 2020), and Evangel has won six Heart Conference Championships since the 1995 season (2013, 2011, 2008, 2006, 2002 and 1997).
