Heart Men’s Golf Teams Compete at NAIA National Championship
Three Heart of America Athletic Conference programs competed at the 74th Annual NAIA Men's Golf National Championship, held May 12-15 at TPC Deere Run, as Grand View University, MidAmerica Nazarene University, and Missouri Valley College represented the conference on the national stage. Spencer Woorley of William Woods University also competed as an individual qualifier.
MidAmerica Nazarene
MidAmerica Nazarene University turned in the top finish among Heart programs, placing sixth overall with a four-round total score of 1169. The Pioneers opened the championship in seventh place after carding a 293 (+13) in round one before moving into a tie for sixth following round two.
MNU remained inside the top 10 throughout the tournament and closed the championship with 100.47 total points to secure the program's sixth-place national finish.
Missouri Valley
Missouri Valley College finished 14th overall with a total score of 1186 and 72.09 total points after climbing from 25th place following the opening round.
The Vikings improved their standing throughout the week, moving into 13th place after rounds two and three before finishing inside the top 15 nationally. Felipe Suarez earned NAIA Men's Golf National Championship All-Tournament honors after tying for 14th individually with a four-round score of 288 (74-75-69-70).
Grand View
Grand View University opened the championship with a strong first round, carding a 291 (+11) to sit fifth overall after day one. The Vikings remained in contention through the opening two rounds, sitting tied for sixth entering round three.
Grand View concluded the national championship in 15th place overall with a total score of 1203 and 67.14 total points.
