Heart Game of the Week Recap: No. 9 Benedictine vs. No. 6 William Penn

This week's Heart Game of the Week featured a top-10 men's lacrosse showdown, as No. 9 Benedictine traveled to face No. 6 William Penn in a matchup with major conference title implications. Benedictine came away with a 10-5 victory, tightening an already competitive race at the top of the Heart standings.
Both teams entered the contest with strong resumes and identical 7-1 conference records, setting the stage for a pivotal late-season battle. With postseason positioning on the line, the matchup delivered a physical and statistically even contest despite the final margin.
Benedictine totaled 38 shots, including 25 on goal, while adding 31 ground balls. The Ravens' defensive effort proved key, forcing 25 turnovers and holding William Penn to just five goals. In net, Benedictine's goalkeeper recorded 11 saves on 16 shots faced to anchor the win.
William Penn finished with 33 shots and 16 on goal, along with 32 ground balls in a closely contested possession battle. The Statesmen's goalkeeper turned in a strong performance with 15 saves on 25 shots, keeping William Penn within reach throughout the contest.
With the result, Benedictine improves to 10-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play, while William Penn moves to 10-2 overall and 7-1 in league action. The two teams remain neck and neck atop the Heart standings heading into the final week of the regular season.
Benedictine will close out its regular season on Tuesday, April 21 against Midland, while William Penn wraps up regular-season play on Wednesday, April 22 against St. Ambrose.
The Heart of America Men's Lacrosse Conference Tournament is set to begin on Saturday, April 25, with the tournament champion earning the conference's automatic bid to the NAIA Men's Lacrosse National Championship.
