Heart Men’s Soccer Players of the Week – September 27

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Men's Soccer Player of the Week awards on Monday, as No. 10 Missouri Valley's Tom Preston was selected the Heart Offensive Player of the Week and Grand View goalkeeper Felix Shafer earned the Defensive Player of the Week award.

Preston and the Vikings defeated Benedictine, 3-0, last week on the road. In the victory, the Blackpool, England native scored two goals on just three shot attempts to lead Missouri Valley to their first Heart victory of the season.

Shafer and the Vikings went 2-0 last week with two shut out victories. Grand View defeated William Penn, 1-0, on September 21, then followed that up with a 6-0 win over Evangel. 

Shafer had three saves in each of the two victories and helped the Vikings improve to 5-2-1 overall and 3-1 in the Heart.
