Tennis Heads To National Tourney As #12 Seed
Lamoni, IA - The Graceland men's tennis team is headed to the NAIA national tournament in Mobile, Alabama for the sixth consecutive season next week.
The Jackets will enter the tournament as the #12 seed and will face the #21 seed, Huntington University (IN) Tuesday morning (May 17th) at 9am. You can view the entire national tournament bracket by clicking here.
Led by senior all-american Remy Caffardo, (Romans, France), Graceland enters the tournament with an overall record on the of 11-5 and are coming off of the HAAC tournament championship two weekends ago. Caffardo comes in as the third ranked player in small college tennis according to the ITA rankings.
The Huntington University Foresters come in with a lofty record of 14-3 and sport the nations twentieth best small college player, Valadisav Khudizy. The match sets up as a very competitive one for both teams.
"I'm very excited about our trip to Mobile for the national tournament next week," said an excited Coach Hampton about the event. "We've got a really great core group of guys and I'm confident this can be a successful tournament for us. The level of competition we'll face is second to none but we are certainly up for the challenge," finished head coach Jerry Hampton.
