Missouri Valley Tennis Player Wins National Award
Missouri Valley College men's tennis player, Senior Wesley Ng, has earned a National award from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Ng, from Brampton, Ontario, has been awarded the 2015 ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
The award is handed out to one outstanding men's tennis player at the NAIA level. Dating back to 1982, the award is presented to an individual who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievement.
Ng finished his college tennis career with a singles record of 61-28 and a doubles record of 57-19. In the classroom, Ng also compiled a 4.0 GPA as an education major and was a two-time NAIA Scholar Athlete. Also, Ng's work in youth camps and his assistance with his teammates were cited as reasons for him earning the award.
"Wes shows up every day with a positive attitude and great work ethic," said Tennis Head Coach Ryan Carney. "He is always willing to lend a hand to teammates and coaches. He is extremely deserving of this award and I am very excited for him."
Ng helped the Viking men's tennis team to a 12-7 record during the 2015 season, including a runner-up finish in the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament.
