MNU's Ammons Recognized for Meritorious Service
Curt Ammons of MidAmerica Nazarene University was presented with a meritorious service award by his fellow Heart of America Athletic Conference coaches for his longtime support of HAAC track & field at Saturday's HAAC outdoor track & field championships.
Ammons, who has been at MNU for 28 years, has led his track and cross country teams to 29 HAAC team championships. He has coached several national champions, including record-breaking national meet performance by his men's 1,600-meter relay. In addition, Ammons has coached numerous All-Americans, including his grandson, Chad Ammons. He has also won several coach-of-the-year awards during his tenure. As a cross country coach, Ammons led the men's team to a National Christian College Athletic Association national team championship.
In honor of Ammons, the HAAC coaches have named this service award in his honor as it will now be called the Curt Ammons Meritorious Service Award.
