Heart Game of the Week Recap: No. 3 Park vs. No. 4 Missouri Valley

Saturday night featured a nationally ranked Heart men's volleyball thriller as #3 Park earned a 3-1 victory over #4 Missouri Valley in Marshall, MO, featured in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Game of the Week, presented by Olathe Chamber of Commerce.
Park secured the four-set win by scores of 25-22, 25-21, 26-28, 28-26 in a tightly contested matchup that lived up to its billing. The Pirates jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Missouri Valley responded by extending the match with a narrow 28-26 win in the third set. The fourth set mirrored the intensity of the third, with both teams trading momentum before Park closed out the match late, 28-26.
The opening set featured nine ties as neither side was able to create much separation early. Park used a late push to build a small cushion and held off a Missouri Valley rally to take the first set, 25-22. In the second, the Vikings led early before the Pirates responded with key scoring runs midway through the frame to regain control and secure a 25-21 win.
Facing a two-set deficit, Missouri Valley answered in the third with a competitive back-and-forth battle. The Vikings capitalized late to edge Park 28-26 and force a fourth set. In the final frame, Missouri Valley built a late advantage and had opportunities to extend the match further, but Park responded down the stretch to claim the set, 28-26, and the match.
As a team, Park hit .285 on the night and recorded a season-high 18 total blocks, creating consistent pressure at the net. Missouri Valley finished with a .195 hitting percentage, 10 team blocks, and four service aces in the contest.
With the win, Park improves to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in Heart conference play. Missouri Valley moves to 8-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference action as the early Heart schedule continues to feature marquee matchups.
