Inaugural Heart Shotgun Sports Championship Concludes at Powder Creek Shooting Park
The inaugural Heart Shotgun Sports Conference Championship took place March 7–8, 2026, at Powder Creek Shooting Park, bringing together seven programs from across the Heart of America Athletic Conference for the first-ever conference championship in the sport.
Student-athletes competed across three disciplines—Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays—with the combined scores determining the High Overall Team Champion, crowning the first conference champion in Heart Shotgun Sports history.
Seven institutions competed in the inaugural championship: Grand View, Hastings, McPherson, Midland, Missouri Valley, William Penn, and William Woods.
Teams competed in Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays, with individual and team performances contributing to overall standings. Individual honors were also awarded in each discipline, along with season awards recognizing top athletes and coaches from across the conference.
William Penn University claimed the title of the first-ever Heart Shotgun Sports Team Champion, totaling 1,416 points, while Midland University finished as the runner-up with 1,389 points.
