Baker Wins Third-Straight Women's Golf Title
MARSHALL, Mo. - Lindsey Mateer earned a two-shot win to propel Baker to the 2015 Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship, Tuesday afternoon at the Indian Foothills Country Club. | FINAL RESULTS
Mateer posted a 36-hole total of 156 to earn a two-shot win over first-round leader Lucy Clark of Culver-Stockton. Mateer shot 78 in each of her two rounds on the par-72, 5,833-yard course to overcome a two-shot deficit after the opening 18 holes of play on Monday. Alannah Hustead of Central Methodist finished third with a total of 161, while Keeley Brunner of Graceland (162) and Clarissa Molina from Missouri Valley (163) rounded out the top five.
Baker claimed its third-straight team championship with a two-day total of 660. Central Methodist and Peru State tied for second place, each team tallying 693 before the Eagles won a one-hole playoff to take second place. Graceland finished fourth with a team total of 699, while Avila (727), Culver-Stockton (730) and Missouri Valley (816) completed the field.
With its conference championship, Baker earns an automatic berth into the 21st Annual NAIA Women's Golf National Championships, May 12-15 at the Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Ga.
