MNU Head Women's Soccer Coach Bobby Reiss Resigns
OLATHE, Kan. - MidAmerica Nazarene University Director of Athletics Todd Garrett announced that head women's soccer coach Bobby Reiss submitted his resignation, effective June 21. Coach Reiss led the Pioneers for two seasons after serving as a Graduate Assistant for three seasons.
In his first season as head coach, Reiss's Pioneers finished 9-7-2. In 2018 MNU enjoyed their finest season in program history, going 15-3-1 including 11 straight wins, a 2nd place finish in the Heart, and victories over two top-25 teams (#2 Benedictine & #24 Central Methodist). Coach Reiss earned 2018 Conference Coach of the Year.
"I am grateful for the leadership and investment Coach Reiss has made in women's soccer program over the past 4 years," said Garrett. "In his three years as a graduate assistant and two years as the head coach, our program saw significant growth on and off the field. The culture he and his staff have worked to establish is a wonderful benchmark for the future of Pioneer Women's Soccer. We wish Coach Reiss well in his future endeavors."
Coach Reiss is headed back to his native California for a coaching position on a club team, bringing him closer to family and friends.
"I want to thank the players, staff, and overall community of MNU for their dedication and support to the Women's Soccer program during my tenure," said Reiss. "I have been very fortunate in my time at MNU to be supported and given the resources to be successful on and off the field. I know the players have created a fantastic culture amongst the Women's Soccer team that will endure for years to come. I wish them the very best moving forward."
Assistant Coach Bryce McClanahan has been named Interim Head Coach and the search for a permanent head coach begins immediately.
