Top Seeds Earn Spot in Conference Championship Game
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Both top seeds advance to the Heart Championship game as Central Methodist and Missouri Valley come away with wins in the Heart of America Women's Soccer Conference Tournament Semifinals.
#1 Central Methodist Defeats #4 Benedictine, 4-2
Top seeded Central Methodist took just under four minutes to score their first goal of the game on a goal from Mariana Barreto from Sara Garcia and Jenna Brouwer. In the 21st minute, Benedictine's Ella Braunger scored to tie the match as one and the Ravens added another less than three minutes later, on a goal from Payton Vogelbacher from Lizzy Gresch to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the break, Central Methodist got things rolling and rattled off three goals in the second half with two coming from Nerea Munoz and one coming from Moka Ishii to win the game, 4-2 and advance to the Heart Championship game.
#2 Missouri Valley Defeats #3 MidAmerica Nazarene in Overtime, 2-1
Ashley Arribas got the Vikings on the board early on assists from Lucia Torres Vizcain and Daijah White to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead. Almost 50 minutes of scoreless soccer later, MNU's Thayline Teixeira netted the equalizer on an assist from Lieve Mol.
After both teams were tied at one at the end of regulation, Missouri Valley quickly went down the field in overtime and scored the game winner from Arribas to win the game, 2-1 and make their way to the Heart Championship game.
