Vera Beltrame Captures Third-Straight Heart Setter of the Week
The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honors on Monday, as No. 4 nationally ranked Park University setter Vera Beltrame earned her third-straight Setter of the Week honor, while teammate Nada Meawad was selected for her second Heart Attacker of the Week award of 2021 and No. 11 Central Methodist’s Krystal Brauner is the Heart Defender of the Week.

Beltrame dished out 104 assists in three, three-set victories for the Pirates last week, as she improved her assist numbers in each match with 27 in the win over Brescia (Ky.), 36 against Oklahoma Wesleyan and 41 against John Brown (Ark.).
For the week, she averaged 13 assists per set and is the NAIA leader in assists per set this season at 12.68.
Meawad had 39 kills for Park on the week, with 14 coming against Oklahoma Wesleyan and 18 in the victory over John Brown.
The Cairo, Egypt native hit .425 on the week and averaged 5.57 kills per set. She also remains No. 1 in the NAIA in kills per set on the season at 5.22.
Brauner, a sophomore DS from Jefferson City, Missouri, averaged an impressive 6.2 digs per set in three matches last week.
The Eagles defeated Xavier, 3-1, then fell to No. 20 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and No. 1 Missouri Baptist, both in four sets.
She posted 32 digs against Lindsey Wilson and 25 against Missouri Baptist.
